It turns out that Storm2 and Storm compatibility mode is ironically incompatible with many, if not most, of the apps for which RIM created it.
To run our apps on a Storm2 or Storm you will need to disable compatibility mode if it is enabled. Compatibility mode is enabled for an app if when you run it there is a blue border around its main window, the virtual keyboard won’t go away and landscape mode does not work.
We do try to disable compatibility mode at app installation, but unfortunately it doesn’t always work due to OS bugs and there are specific cases where it is impossible to do so, such as when installing using Desktop Manager.
To manually disable compatibility mode:
- Go to the Options/Applications (OS 5 or higher) or Options/Advanced Options/Applications (OS 4.7) screen
- In the list of apps select/highlight the app by touching its name
- Press the Menu key (i.e. the BlackBerry logo key) and select Disable compatibility mode. If the Disable compatibility mode menu item is not available, but Enable compatibility mode is available instead then do not select it, just skip to the next step.
- Restart the app
- If after restarting the app compatibility mode is still enabled then perform a reset by pulling your BlackBerry battery
If after performing all of the above compatibility mode is still enabled then contact support and we’ll do our best to help.
